What is WinProgramManager?

This is a program to help you install programs winget offers. There are more than 10,000 of them, so I made this app to make it easier to find the app you want.

The programs are categorized and there is a search function that is quite good, as you also can search in the result of the previous search and regex search is supported.

It also comes with an automatic update of the database - an app that does the update once a week by default, but in «Settings» you can decide yourself when and how often you want it to update in the background.

I had to make it database based, since to fetch all info will take days, as you have to query winget over 10,000 times to get it. But having the database and updating it once a week, secures that it does not take so much time to start the program. At startup, winget gets queried about what apps you have installed, so that can be synced with the database.

Installed apps will then have functions «Reinstall» and «Uninstall», while apps that are not already on your system will have «Install»

This programme relies on «winget», which is included in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

It supports over 11,000 software packages and you will be notified when programmes are available if you run it in the background, where it uses only 0.3MB of memory.

If you wish, you can simply run it manually, or have it scan at Windows startup and notify you only when it finds an update for your programmes.

I'm not good at shutting down the machine, I let it go into sleep mode, so I choose to let it run in the background and reside in the system tray, where it checks for updates at the intervals you choose in «Settings»
